Los Angeles, September 5, 2025 — A new, highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Capcom’s iconic Street Fighter franchise is gearing up for a cinematic comeback. The film, co-produced by Legendary Entertainment and Capcom, is set to be distributed globally by Paramount Pictures, making it the first major release under a new three-year distribution agreement with Legendary.
All-Star Lineup and Rebooted Narrative
Shot through a reboot lens, this third live-action take on the franchise is directed by Kitao Sakurai, stepping in after earlier directors Danny and Michael Philippou exited the project. Principal photography kicked off in August 2025 in Australia under a screenplay by Dalan Musson, known for Captain America: Brave New World.
The movie stars Noah Centineo as Ken Masters and Andrew Koji as Ryu, with Callina Liang portraying Chun-Li. The roster is further elevated by high-profile names: Jason Momoa as Blanka, Roman Reigns as Akuma, “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog, and Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki. The ensemble also features David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, and Eric André, Orville Peck, Olivier Richters, Hirooki Goto, and others in supporting roles.
Returning in 2026
The film is slated for a theatrical release on October 16, 2026 in the U.S., with a global rollout to follow.
This reboot aims to elevate Street Fighter to blockbuster status—learning from past adaptations while leveraging modern production values and a stacked cast. With the legacy of prior attempts (such as the 1994 Jean-Claude Van Damme-led adaptation) and the global growth of video game-to-film projects, expectations are high for a faithful yet thrilling reimagining of the beloved fighting world.
