Kuala Lumpur, 6 August 2026 – Malaysia is expanding KL20 2026 from four to eight priority sectors while taking the programme to Penang, Johor and Kuala Lumpur, sharpening its effort to develop technology companies capable of attracting capital, commercialising innovation and competing internationally.
The programme will retain its existing focus on energy and green technology, agricultural technology, manufacturing and automation, and Islamic finance. Four additional areas, the creative economy, digital economy, digital gaming and the third sector, will broaden its reach under the country’s 13th Malaysia Plan.
