London, 6 August 2026 – Britain has cleared Paramount Skydance’s US$110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery after the buyer provided legally binding commitments covering British programming, editorial independence and public-service broadcasting.
The decisions by the government and the Competition and Markets Authority remove the prospect of lengthy British reviews, bringing Paramount closer to completing one of the largest transactions in global media. Litigation brought by a group of US states led by California now represents the principal remaining obstacle.
