Ringgit Ends Marginally Lower as US Tariffs and Oil Risks Support Greenback

Kuala Lumpur, 24 July 2026 – The ringgit ended marginally lower against the US dollar on Friday as investors weighed renewed tariff uncertainty, disruptions to shipping in the Middle East and the risk that higher crude oil prices could keep global interest rates elevated.

At 6pm, the local currency eased to 4.0885/4.0935 against the greenback from 4.0870/4.0910 at Thursday’s close. The US dollar-ringgit pair remained within a relatively narrow range of between RM4.0890 and RM4.0977 during the session.
