Seoul, 28 October 2026 – Three South Korean financial businesses have reported new cyber incidents, extending scrutiny from banks into securities, asset management and digital-asset services. Daishin Securities said personal and credit information linked to 38,490 customers had been exposed. Cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb reported a breach of an internal mobile system and a leak of personal information, while Mirae Asset Global Investments also reported an intrusion. The firms and authorities are assessing the incidents; the full scope of exposed data is not yet known.
The reports matter to Asian financial firms and investors because customer information is a core operational and regulatory risk across brokerage, investment and crypto platforms. Daishin has said it found no evidence of secondary harm and that core business systems were not accessed, but those statements do not establish the final impact of the wider incidents. The confirmed disclosures must be separated from questions still under investigation, including what information was exposed and whether customers face misuse.
