Kuala Lumpur, 28 October 2026 – The ringgit opened firmer against the US dollar for an eighth consecutive trading session, with the 8am quote reported at 4.0855/4.0915 against Tuesday’s close of 4.0865/4.0900. The streak extends a run of gains, although the quoted pair and the day’s subsequent market movement should not be mistaken for a single fixed exchange rate.
For Malaysian companies, a stronger ringgit can lower the local-currency cost of imported inputs and foreign-currency debt, while reducing the translated value of overseas revenue. The net effect varies by business. Investors should read the opening move alongside Bank Negara Malaysia’s reference rates, market liquidity and corporate currency exposure rather than treating a short streak as proof of a lasting trend.
