Kuala Lumpur, 5 November 2026 – PETRONAS and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) placed among the world’s strongest energy brands in the 2026 Energy 100 rankings, while the combined value of the top 100 energy brands rose 6% to US$731.2 billion. The results offer a measure of brand strength and familiarity, but they are not a proxy for either company’s market capitalisation, earnings or investment return.
PETRONAS moved up one place to become the second-strongest oil and gas brand, with a Brand Strength Index score of 83.5 out of 100 and an AAA-minus rating. Its reported brand value, however, fell 4% to US$13.8 billion. The distinction between rank and value matters: brand strength reflects relative performance on non-financial measures, while brand value estimates the economic benefit associated with the brand. Neither measure replaces analysis of the company’s operating results or cash generation.
