Redmond, 28 September 2026 – Microsoft is integrating Word, Excel and PowerPoint more deeply into its Copilot experience while introducing an Autopilot capability designed to continue assigned work without constant user prompting. The company’s official product announcement groups the changes under Home, Code and Autopilot. It describes a direction for enterprise software rather than proof that every feature is already generally available to every customer.
Home is presented as a starting point that brings chat and collaborative work together, with Office applications accessible within the Copilot experience. That may reduce the friction of moving between drafting a document, analysing a spreadsheet and preparing a presentation. For corporate users, however, the benefit depends on how accurately the system handles existing files, permissions, formatting and review workflows. A convenient interface is useful only if it respects the organisation’s data controls.
