Putrajaya, 12 August 2026 – Malaysian consumers increased spending in June, lifting wholesale and retail trade 10.1% from a year earlier to RM168.5 billion and strengthening evidence of resilient domestic demand.
Trade volume rose 5.1% year on year and 1.3% from May, indicating that the gain reflected both price effects and higher activity. Festive spending and school holidays supported demand, while performance varied across wholesale, retail and motor-vehicle segments.
