Kuala Lumpur, 12 August 2026 – The Kuala Lumpur High Court has granted leave to the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) to initiate committal proceedings against Tan Bee Geok, former Group Executive Director of APL Industries Berhad, for breaching a court-sanctioned consent judgment tied to an insider trading case.
High Court judge YA Leong Wai Hong allowed the SC’s application following an opposed ex-parte hearing on Wednesday, clearing the path for contempt of court proceedings against Tan. The application stems from a consent judgment executed on 17 September 2020, resolving enforcement action brought under Section 188(3)(a) of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007 (CMSA) after Tan communicated material non-public information concerning APL Industries to her sister, Tan Bee Hong.
