NEW YORK / LOS ANGELES, 29 August 2025 – Pop icon Lady Gaga has officially announced the release of her haunting new single, “The Dead Dance”, set to debut on 3 September, aligning with the drop of Part 2 of Netflix’s Wednesday Season 2. The announcement came at the atmospheric Wednesday Graveyard Gala in New York City—a gothic-styled event hosted by Netflix and Spotify attended by cast members and select fans.
Klaxon-like excitement rippled through the gala when Gaga made the revelation live on stage, saying, “I had a wonderful time working on Wednesday Season 2, even just being a small part of the show… I’m also here to confirm my song The Dead Dance is coming.”
A Theatrical Track with Gothic Style
Produced alongside her Mayhem collaborators Andrew Watt and Cirkut, the track is described as dark pop with retro synthesizer tones and theatrical flair. Crafted specifically for Wednesday, it promises to extend the show’s moody aesthetic into the song’s soundscape and visual presentation—complete with a music video directed by Tim Burton.
Filming for the music video took place at the eerie Island of the Dolls in Mexico—a setting renowned for its unsettling ambiance and ghostly folklore. Burton lauded Gaga’s creative presence, noting, “She’s such an artist… working with her is endlessly inspiring.”
Gaga’s Role in Nevermore Academy
In addition to her musical contribution, Lady Gaga will appear in Wednesday Season 2 as Rosaline Rotwood, an enigmatic teacher at Nevermore Academy whose mysterious past crosses paths with Jenna Ortega’s iconic Wednesday Addams. Though plot details remain tightly guarded, co-creators and director Tim Burton have teased elevated horror themes and seamless integration of Gaga’s character.
Her involvement marks a full-circle moment—her 2011 song “Bloody Mary” went viral thanks to a TikTok dance from Season 1, leading to her integration into the show. That serendipity culminated in a collaborative medley with Ortega during Netflix’s Tudum event earlier this year.
With the much-anticipated The Dead Dance poised to debut alongside the final episodes of Wednesday, fans can look forward to a multifaceted gothic pop experience—where music, mystique, and Morticia Addams meet in a darkly theatrical crescendo.
