Beijing, China, 4 November 2026 – Banks have submitted applications exceeding CNY 200 billion under China’s relending programme for share buybacks and additional share purchases, the People’s Bank of China said on 4 November. The central bank also lowered the programme’s relending rate by 0.25 percentage points to 1%, effective the same day.

For Asian investors, the application total shows demand for a targeted financing channel intended to support listed companies and major shareholders. It is not a confirmed tally of loans disbursed or shares purchased. The policy can reduce the funding cost behind eligible transactions, but the announcement does not establish a corresponding improvement in company earnings or a guaranteed market recovery.
