Bank Negara Malaysia Reserves Rise to US$129 Billion as External Buffers Remain Supportive

Kuala Lumpur, 22 May 2026 – Bank Negara Malaysia’s international reserves stood at US$129.0 billion as at 15 May 2026, reinforcing Malaysia’s external resilience at a time when global investors continue to monitor currency movements, trade uncertainty and capital flows across emerging markets.

The latest reserve position provides an important snapshot of Malaysia’s external buffer, particularly as financial markets remain sensitive to US interest-rate expectations, regional currency volatility and changing global risk appetite. The reserve figure was reported in Bank Negara Malaysia’s latest update and carried by local media on 22 May 2026.
