Washington, 30 September 2026 – The United States has launched America.gov as a single digital entry point for federal information and services, placing artificial intelligence at the front of an ambitious public-sector modernisation effort. The portal can currently answer questions, while the administration says more complex transactions, including passport renewal and Medicare enrolment, will be added later. That gap between what is live and what is planned is central to the business story: the launch establishes a distribution channel, but its operational and economic value will depend on reliable integration across agencies.
An executive order directs federal bodies to connect qualifying public-facing services to the platform. The stated threshold covers online services used by more than 100,000 people in a 12-month period, while tax filing and national-security-sensitive activities are excluded. Login.gov is intended to provide a common sign-in layer. Those boundaries matter because the headline promise of a one-stop portal does not mean every federal transaction will migrate, or that a chatbot can independently complete regulated processes today.
