Putrajaya, 6 November 2026 – Malaysia’s Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said on Friday that his resignation would take effect as soon as former prime minister Najib Razak reached home to begin serving the rest of his sentence under house arrest. Loke reaffirmed the condition after Najib’s RM50 million fine in the SRC International Sdn Bhd case was settled and the High Court issued a house-arrest order. Loke said he had been told at the time of his briefing that Najib had not yet been allowed to return home.
For businesses and investors, the immediate question is who will oversee transport policy and decisions while the Cabinet portfolio changes hands. Loke said ministry programmes would continue and that he had chaired a meeting to settle administrative matters. That is an assurance of continuity from the outgoing minister, not confirmation that a successor has been named or that any project has changed its timetable.
