Kuala Lumpur, 2 November 2026 – CelcomDigi Berhad’s new spectrum assignments will cost RM381.75 million upfront, while recurring licence payments have led CIMB Securities to reduce its core earnings forecasts for the telecommunications group by 1% to 4% a year from financial year 2026 through 2028. The assignments cover paired spectrum in the 900-megahertz and 2,600-megahertz bands.
The development matters because spectrum is essential infrastructure for mobile coverage and data capacity, but it also brings both immediate and continuing costs. The forecast revision is an analyst estimate, not a change to CelcomDigi’s reported results or company guidance; investors will need to weigh the added expense against the commercial value of the additional capacity.
