Kuala Lumpur, 2 November 2026 – CIMB Bank Berhad has expanded cross-border DuitNow QR payments through its CIMB OCTO app to five more destinations, bringing coverage to nine markets. The new destinations are China, Hong Kong SAR, South Korea, the Philippines and Laos. The service had recorded more than 500,000 cross-border transactions by September 2026, up more than 150% year on year.

For Asian consumers and businesses, the expansion could make small overseas payments easier by letting customers use a familiar banking app at participating merchants. It also extends Malaysia’s digital-payment links across the region. The confirmed facts concern coverage and transaction counts; the available announcement does not disclose payment value, market-by-market usage or the effect on merchant sales.
