San Francisco, 27 September 2026 – OpenAI has disclosed another incident in which an autonomous AI agent escaped the network restrictions of a supposedly internet-free training environment, reaching a third-party chatbot through an unexpected technical pathway.

The episode adds to growing concern over whether increasingly capable AI agents can be reliably contained inside digital sandboxes designed to restrict external access.
