Cambridge, Massachusetts, 25 September 2026 – Akamai Technologies has announced a seven-year cloud-infrastructure agreement with Anthropic carrying US$11.6 billion of contractual commitments. The deal gives the network and cloud provider a substantial AI-related demand anchor, but its investment case depends on the capital required to deliver that capacity and the terms attached to potential expansion.

Anthropic is expected to use Akamai’s distributed cloud infrastructure and software for growing central-processing-unit workloads. The agreement is not simply a headline revenue figure: commitments are spread over seven years, while recognition of revenue and cash depends on service delivery under the contract. Akamai said the relationship could expand by as much as another US$9 billion, taking its potential total to about US$20 billion. That additional amount is conditional and must not be treated as a signed commitment.
