Washington, 24 September 2026 – Positive feelings about artificial intelligence outweigh negative ones in 34 of 37 countries in a new international survey, but attitudes vary sharply between markets. The research found a median 72% of respondents reporting at least one positive emotion toward AI, against 41% reporting a negative emotion. For businesses and investors, the distinction is important when translating public sentiment into market forecasts.
China, Singapore and Kenya recorded particularly high levels of positive emotion, at 90%, 89% and 87% respectively among those aware of AI. Asked whether the technology would mostly help their country, 93% of respondents in China, 91% in Vietnam and 77% in Singapore agreed. The United States stood apart: 74% of AI-aware adults there said AI made them worried. These results challenge the assumption that richer markets or heavier technology spending necessarily produce the most enthusiastic consumers.
