New York, 24 September 2026 – YouTube is expanding artificial-intelligence tools for video creators while insisting that editing decisions and creative direction remain with the people who make the content. The product announcements at its 23 September creator event point to a broader commercial strategy: reduce production friction, keep creators active on the platform and deepen the shopping and advertising opportunities built around their audiences.
On its own product blog, YouTube described a conversational editing assistant for Shorts and the YouTube Create app. The planned tool uses Gemini technology to help arrange clips, trim pauses and synchronise music through back-and-forth instructions, while leaving creators able to revise the timeline manually. The company also outlined new feedback on draft videos, channel-matched thumbnail suggestions and tests of different video cuts. These features are designed to fit into an existing workflow rather than replace the act of publishing an original story.
