Seoul, 16 September 2026 – SK Hynix is exploring a potential partnership with Intel to manufacture memory chips in the United States, opening a possible new route for semiconductor investment as artificial intelligence increases demand for computing capacity. The discussions remain preliminary, and investors should distinguish an assessment of production options from a committed factory project.
Options under discussion reportedly include using part of Intel’s Ohio facilities or establishing a venture involving Intel and cloud companies. Neither a final structure nor the type of memory to be produced has been determined. SK Hynix said it was reviewing additional production locations but had made no decision. Intel declined to discuss speculation while reiterating that work to prepare its Ohio site continues.
