Batu Kawan, Malaysia, 24 August 2026 – McDonald’s Malaysia is extending its renewable-energy partnership with Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), turning restaurant rooftops, electricity procurement and electric-vehicle charging into a coordinated operating strategy. The programme offers investors a practical view of how large consumer networks can manage energy costs while responding to the country’s transition agenda.
The latest phase covers 51 additional restaurants with an estimated combined rooftop-solar capacity of 1.685 megawatt-peak. That expansion follows photovoltaic systems already installed at 100 restaurants. Management is targeting 200 to 250 outlets equipped with solar panels by the end of 2027, with TNB subsidiary GSPARX expected to develop, operate and maintain the systems. Implementation is scheduled to begin in 2026 and finish in 2027.
