Singapore, 24 August 2026 – The Singapore government has unveiled a visionary multi-decade land reclamation, coastal resilience, and industrial consolidation masterplan for its southern offshore islands, charting a transformative urban development blueprint designed to secure the city-state’s commercial competitiveness, climate adaptation defenses, and economic land supply over the next half-century. Announced as a cornerstone of the National Day Rally 2026 long-term infrastructure roadmap, the strategic plan integrates extensive coastal protection engineering with advanced industrial restructuring to unlock prime waterfront corridors along the mainland.
The strategic core of the southern islands masterplan centers on consolidating traditional maritime logistics, bulk fuel storage, and heavy industrial facilities from older port terminals onto expanded offshore land plots. By progressively concentrating petrochemical processing and maritime bunkering operations into specialized, high-density green industrial clusters on Jurong Island and adjacent reclaimed areas, the government is liberating over 2,000 hectares of prime coastal land along Tanjong Pagar, Keppel, Pasir Panjang, and the Greater Southern Waterfront for future mixed-use commercial, residential, and recreational redevelopment.
