Seoul, 24 August 2026 – South Korean semiconductor and consumer electronics titan Samsung Electronics has unveiled a landmark three-year capital allocation and shareholder return policy, committing a record 110 trillion won (approximately US$79.4 billion) toward regular cash dividends, special distributions, and targeted share repurchases between 2026 and 2028. Despite the historic scale of the payout program, Samsung’s shares experienced a modest 1.5% pullback on the Korea Exchange (KRX), reflecting investor scrutiny over massive capital expenditure commitments and competitive execution in high-bandwidth memory (HBM) packaging.
The comprehensive shareholder return framework establishes a guaranteed annual base dividend pool of 9.8 trillion won, ensuring predictable quarterly cash yields for institutional pension funds and domestic retail shareholders. Additionally, Samsung committed to returning 50% of free cash flow generated over the three-year cycle to shareholders, earmarking an estimated 20 trillion won for opportunistic treasury share cancellations should market valuations trade below book value.
