Singapore, 22 August 2026 – Singaporean economic authorities have provisionally awarded 200 megawatts of new data centre capacity across four major operators on Jurong Island, marking a significant expansion of the nation’s digital infrastructure while enforcing strict sustainability and energy-efficiency mandates. The allocation grants 50 megawatts each to Digital Realty, Equinix, Keppel Data Centres, and ST Telemedia Global Data Centres following a competitive call for applications that drew proposals from leading global infrastructure consortia.
The strategic decision to anchor next-generation computational capacity on Jurong Island represents a deliberate industrial integration model. Jurong Island, Singapore’s energy and chemicals hub, provides direct access to industrial power grids, low-carbon energy trials, liquefied natural gas imports, and advanced cooling infrastructure. By co-locating hyperscale and AI-ready data centres within an established industrial ecosystem, the government aims to maximize power distribution efficiency and facilitate the integration of emerging green energy sources, such as hydrogen and biomethane.
