HKEX Posts Record First-Half Profit of HK$10.6 Billion as Tech IPO Resurgence and Sizzling Turnover Drive 24% Earnings Growth

Hong Kong, 19 August 2026 – Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) delivered a record financial performance for the first half of 2026, posting a 24 percent year-on-year increase in attributable net profit to HK$10.57 billion, propelled by a powerful resurgence in technology initial public offerings (IPOs) and record trading volumes across cash, derivatives, and commodities markets.

The bourse operator’s stellar interim results beat market expectations of HK10.15 billion, comfortably surpassing the previous record of HK8.52 billion achieved in the corresponding period of 2025. Core revenue and other income expanded 19 percent year-on-year to HK$15.5 billion, reflecting broad-based operational expansion across cash equity desks, financial derivatives, commodities clearing, and cross-border Stock Connect trading channels.
