Melbourne, Australia, 18 August 2026 – BHP Group’s earnings are being reshaped by copper. The world’s largest listed mining company reported a stronger-than-expected year and declared its highest annual dividend in four years, as record copper prices made the metal a larger profit engine than iron ore.
Underlying attributable profit rose 30% to US$13.20 billion for the year ended June 30, above a US$12.66 billion consensus estimate. BHP declared a final dividend of 99 US cents per share, taking the full-year distribution to US$1.72. The payout gives shareholders a direct benefit from the copper cycle while preserving the company’s flexibility to fund projects.
