Hanoi, Vietnam, 18 August 2026 – Vietnam is moving to build a workforce for quantum technology as governments and companies across Asia compete to develop capabilities in advanced computing. The initiative places talent, research coordination and commercial networks at the centre of a national effort to participate in a technology field that remains early but strategically important.
Quantum computing requires a different skills mix from conventional software development. Physicists, mathematicians, engineers, computer scientists and specialised technicians must work together to build hardware, develop algorithms and manage the difficult conditions needed to operate quantum systems. A workforce strategy therefore has to connect universities, laboratories and companies rather than relying on a single training programme.
