Kuala Lumpur, 16 August 2026 – Malaysia has identified more than 8,400 fake social-media accounts exploiting sensitive issues involving race, religion and royalty, sharpening attention on coordinated inauthentic behaviour and platform accountability.
Authorities have previously warned that some accounts are created to publish provocative material and then disappear after distribution. Impersonation, manipulated images and artificial-intelligence content can make attribution difficult.
