Kuala Lumpur, 12 August 2026 – Malaysia’s industrial output grew 6.5% in June, slightly below market expectations but strong enough to prompt economists to raise full-year forecasts as manufacturing momentum broadened through the second quarter.

June’s increase followed 8.5% growth in May and came below a median forecast of 7.2%. The moderation did not alter the stronger quarterly picture: industrial production expanded 7.7% in the second quarter, up from 4% in the first three months of the year.
