Muar, August 26, 2025 — The Ministry of Health (MoH) is intensifying its efforts to tackle staffing challenges at the new Pasir Gudang Hospital, emphasizing that the project’s success depends as much on human resources as on infrastructure, said Health Minister Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad.
During a media briefing after his visit to Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital (HPSF), Dzulkefly acknowledged the critical role of personnel in bringing the new facility to full operation. He explained that the ministry had devised a phased staffing strategy to deploy medical officers, specialists, nurses, and support staff to Pasir Gudang Hospital gradually.
Tunku Mahkota Tunku Ismail had highlighted the manpower shortage during an earlier meeting with MoH leadership. The minister assured that the ministry has responded with urgency, aiming to meet the Regent’s expectations for swift progress.
Currently, the hospital—built at a cost of RM380 million and with a capacity of 304 beds—has commenced operations at approximately 20% capacity, focusing initially on its Emergency Department. Other services will be added in successive phases.
Dzulkefly reaffirmed previous assurances that the facility is targeted to become fully operational by mid‑2026, a development that will significantly enhance healthcare access in the region.
