Miami, 15 October 2026 – A British public broadcaster has asked a Florida federal judge to order US President Donald Trump to set a firm date for sworn testimony in the US$10 billion defamation lawsuit he filed against it. The procedural dispute has emerged as the discovery deadline approaches and both sides prepare for a trial scheduled for February 2027.

The broadcaster’s legal team said the date was withdrawn in late September because of presidential duties, without a replacement being confirmed. Trump’s counsel later proposed extending discovery and holding the deposition in the second or third week of January 2027.
