Seoul, 23 October 2026 – South Korea’s economy probably expanded 0.7% in the third quarter from the previous three months, according to the median forecast of 16 economists surveyed from 14 to 23 October. That would be a modest acceleration from 0.6% quarterly growth in April to June, supported by semiconductor exports and artificial-intelligence investment.
The forecast matters to Asian investors because South Korea is a major technology exporter and a bellwether for global electronics demand. The 0.7% figure is a survey estimate, not an official result. It also masks a widening gap between the chip sector and softer household demand, which limits how broadly the expansion is felt.
