SME Malaysia Backs Government Procurement Act to Ease Cash Flow Pressure on Local Businesses

KUALA LUMPUR, 21 May 2026 – The SME Association of Malaysia has expressed support for the immediate gazettement and implementation of the Government Procurement Act, describing it as an important policy measure to help small and medium enterprises manage rising cost pressures and worsening cash flow conditions.

The association said a transparent and structured procurement framework would allow government spending to provide stronger support for local businesses, particularly SMEs facing higher fuel, logistics, raw material, rental and financing costs.
