Singapore, 26 October 2026 – Singapore’s Energy Market Authority and Malaysia’s Energy Commission renewed their bilateral memorandum of understanding during the 19th Singapore International Energy Week, extending cooperation that began in October 2020. The framework covers electricity and piped-gas reliability, wholesale and retail market regulation, cross-border power trading, renewable energy certificates, interconnection capacity, solar power and energy storage.

The renewed framework is confirmed, but it is not a project financing or final investment decision. Commercial outcomes will still require approved routes, tariffs, offtake contracts, technical studies and a clear allocation of construction and operating risk.
