Kuala Lumpur, 29 September 2026 – Sarawak has launched a supply-chain and sourcing programme designed to connect local businesses with multinational investors and anchor companies, as the state seeks more domestic value from a multi-year investment wave. The initiative, led by Sarawak’s Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority, opened in Kuching with business matching, industry discussions and supplier-development activities.
The programme arrives after RM116 billion of approved investment in Sarawak’s primary, manufacturing and services sectors between 2021 and 2025, according to the organisers. Domestic projects accounted for 61% of that total. The state recorded a further RM10.8 billion of approvals in the first half of 2026. Approved investment is a pipeline indicator, however, not the same as completed spending, factory output or contracts won by local suppliers.
