Public Sector AI Adoption Accelerates as Infrastructure and Shadow AI Risks Intensify

Kuala Lumpur, 16 July 2026 – Public sector organisations are accelerating the use of artificial intelligence across government and education services, but ageing infrastructure, workforce capability gaps and weak governance controls are limiting their ability to deploy complex workloads securely and at scale.

The latest public sector findings from Nutanix’s eighth annual Enterprise Cloud Index show that government agencies, schools and higher education institutions are already applying AI to areas such as benefits eligibility, fraud detection, administrative processes and direct service delivery.
