Kuala Lumpur, 11 September 2025 – Highway concessionaire PLUS Malaysia Bhd (PLUS) is bracing for heavy traffic volumes as Malaysians hit the road for the upcoming school holidays and Malaysia Day celebrations. The company projects vehicle numbers on its highways could surge to as high as 2.2 million per day on four peak dates: September 12, 13, 19 and 20.
The anticipated spike will affect both the PLUS Highway network and the East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2), which serve as major arteries for domestic travel. To help manage the expected congestion, PLUS has rolled out enhancements to its MyPLUS-TTA digital travel schedule, available via the PLUS mobile application.
Digital Tools for Smarter Travel
In its statement, PLUS highlighted that the MyPLUS-TTA system now includes tailored schedules for non-festive peak travel days, a first for the concessionaire. This new feature is aimed at helping users better plan their journeys by recommending optimal travel times and routes. By using the tool, motorists can anticipate smoother traffic flow and a more comfortable driving experience during periods of heightened travel.
PLUS also reminded drivers to ensure their travel readiness. Motorists are encouraged to download or update the PLUS app ahead of their journeys, as the platform provides real-time updates on traffic conditions, rest stops, and travel advisories. The company further urged users to ensure they have sufficient balance in their Touch ‘n Go cards or e-wallets to avoid unnecessary delays at toll plazas.
Ensuring Safer, Smoother Journeys
With national holidays often associated with surges in long-distance travel, PLUS’s preparations highlight its focus on reducing bottlenecks and providing safer travel experiences. By combining digital innovations with proactive reminders, the concessionaire hopes to ease the strain on highways and support a smoother flow of holiday traffic.
