Malaysia MSME Growth Outpaces Economy as Digital and Services Demand Strengthens

Kuala Lumpur, 30 July 2026 – Malaysia’s micro, small and medium enterprises expanded their economic output by 5.7% in 2025, outpacing the country’s overall growth and reinforcing their role as a central driver of employment, domestic demand and business formation.

The performance shows that smaller companies can grow faster than the broader economy when consumer activity, services and digital adoption remain supportive. MSMEs operate across retail, food, tourism, professional services, construction, manufacturing and technology, connecting their results to household spending and local supply chains.
