Kuala Lumpur, 29 September 2026 – A joint venture involving SD Guthrie, Gamuda and Gentari Renewables has agreed a term sheet for a proposed 21-year renewable-power supply arrangement with a US-based multinational technology company’s Malaysian data centres. The venture, G3nerasi Kinta, signed the document on 28 September under Malaysia’s Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme, or CRESS. A term sheet advances negotiations; it should not be described as completed long-term revenue until definitive terms and conditions are established.
The proposed bilateral energy supply contract illustrates the increasing importance of reliable low-carbon electricity to data-centre investment. Long-duration offtake can make renewable generation projects more financeable, while technology customers gain a clearer route to meet their power and emissions objectives. The commercial value depends on contracted capacity, tariff, delivery obligations and development costs, none of which should be invented from the announced tenor alone.
