Kuala Lumpur, 19 October 2026 – The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI fell 5.03 points to 1,602.73 at 9.05am on Monday as persistent foreign selling and global uncertainty weighed on the domestic market. The decline came even after Malaysia’s advance estimate showed third-quarter gross domestic product growing 5.3% year on year.
For Malaysian investors, the opening weakness matters because it shows that stronger domestic growth has not yet displaced concerns about overseas interest rates, technology valuations and rising business costs. The index level and share-price moves are confirmed market observations. Whether selling continues through the session or develops into a longer trend cannot be established from the opening alone.
