FBM KLCI Expansion to 50 Could Broaden Malaysia’s Equity Benchmark

Kuala Lumpur, 30 July 2026 – A proposal to expand the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI from 30 companies to 50 could reshape how international and domestic investors view Malaysia’s largest listed businesses, while creating a wider pool of stocks exposed to index-linked capital.

The benchmark is concentrated in 30 major companies, with banks, utilities, telecommunications groups and plantation businesses carrying substantial weight.
