Kuala Lumpur, 29 July 2026 – Malaysia’s benchmark equity index rose in early trading as lower oil prices and improved hopes around US-Iran discussions supported risk appetite, although caution before the Federal Reserve decision limited conviction. The FBM KLCI was 3.29 points higher at 1,715.6 at 9.09am.
Bank shares led the advance, with Maybank, CIMB, RHB Bank and AmBank posting gains. Financial stocks often benefit when domestic growth remains resilient and investors rotate away from expensive technology names. Their performance gave the index support while weakness persisted among local semiconductor companies.
