Kuala Lumpur, 17 October 2025 — The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and Maybank have formalised a strategic partnership aimed at promoting Malaysia as a premier destination for global capital and serving as a launchpad for regional expansion.

MIDA’s CEO, Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, described financial institutions as the “connective tissue between capital and opportunity.” Under the collaboration, Maybank’s deep ASEAN roots and international presence will complement MIDA’s role in facilitating investment incentives, regulatory guidance, and aftercare support for incoming projects.

The partnership is built on a MoU that leverages MIDA’s investment-promotion expertise and Maybank’s financial advisory capabilities. Among joint initiatives, they will launch investment missions, business roundtables, and marketing campaigns targeting high-value and transformative investments in sectors such as electrical & electronics (E&E), digital economy, electric vehicle (EV) ecosystems, healthcare, and petrochemicals.

From Maybank’s side, Datuk Seri Khairussaleh Ramli, President and Group CEO, emphasised the bank’s role beyond traditional banking. He said the timing of the MoU aligns with the recent 2026 Budget, which sets the stage for Malaysia’s next wave of investments under the 13th Malaysia Plan. The institution also aspires to strengthen Malaysia’s positioning in the halal economy, support sustainable infrastructure, and connect local SMEs with global supply chains and AI-driven opportunities.

Together, MIDA and Maybank aim to amplify investor confidence by offering a more seamless, end-to-end investment value chain, from project conception and regulatory support to financing, scaling, and regional access. By combining promotional reach, capital access, and facilitation capabilities, the partnership seeks to unlock Malaysia’s untapped potential as a global investment hub.
