Oxford Innotech Prepares for Mass Production at New Penang Science Park Facility

By Abigail Cheong3 min read

KUALA LUMPUR, 24 September 2025 — Oxford Innotech Berhad (OXB) is moving into the next phase of its growth journey as it readies its new Factory 2 at Penang Science Park (PSP) for mass production. The 39,392 sq ft facility, completed in May 2025, is currently undergoing production trial runs and is expected to commence full-scale operations in the coming months, bolstering the company’s manufacturing capacity at a time when demand in semiconductors and electronics continues to climb.

Precision Machines Driving Expansion

As part of trial production, OXB has deployed two advanced manufacturing systems that highlight its push toward precision engineering and efficiency.

  • A Coil Form Laser Cutting Machine, capable of handling sheet metal up to six metres in length, has demonstrated potential to reduce material wastage by 10% to 20%.
  • A Large Form Tube Laser Cutting Machine, designed for structural applications, is undergoing trials for tubing and steel up to 12 metres in length, paving the way for greater flexibility in production.

These capabilities are expected to elevate both efficiency and quality standards, reinforcing OXB’s appeal to its core markets across semiconductors, electrical and electronics (E&E), and modular building systems.

On Track with Post-Listing Growth

Managing Director Ng Thean Gin said the factory expansion marks a strong follow-through on commitments made during OXB’s listing in July 2025.

“Since our debut, we have been executing on expansion plans and strengthening customer engagement. With PSP Factory 2 (Phase 1) now in its trial stage, we are on track to commence mass production within months. This will expand our total manufacturing footprint to 125,174 sq ft and enhance our ability to capture rising demand across multiple growth sectors,” Ng said.

Customer engagements are also strengthening, with more component parts receiving approvals that set the stage for new orders once Factory 2 goes live.

Sector Tailwinds and Policy Backdrop

OXB’s expansion comes as Malaysia’s E&E sector posts record growth. In 2024, the industry exported RM601.2 billion worth of products, with semiconductors alone contributing RM437.5 billion. The momentum has continued into 2025, with exports rising 17.3% year-on-year to RM391.0 billion in the first seven months.

At the policy level, the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and the National Semiconductor Strategy are providing frameworks to anchor Malaysia’s role in global supply chains. These align with secular trends in artificial intelligence, digitalisation, and next-generation electronics, positioning OXB to benefit from supportive industry dynamics.

Looking Ahead: Phase 2 Expansion

Beyond Phase 1, OXB has already outlined plans for Phase 2 of its PSP expansion, which will add another 67,722 sq ft of manufacturing space. Once completed in 2027, this will bring the Group’s total manufacturing footprint to 192,896 sq ft, effectively doubling its capacity from today’s levels and cementing its status as an emerging player in Malaysia’s engineering solutions landscape.
