Hyderabad / U.S., 18 September 2025 — Hyundai Motor Corporation has initiated a recall affecting 568,580 Palisade vehicles in the United States due to a defect in the seat belt buckle assemblies. The recall spans model years 2020 through 2025, after U.S. safety regulators found that some buckles were manufactured with physical dimensions outside required specifications—potentially preventing the latch from engaging securely in a crash.
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued the recall, warning that improperly latching seat belts could fail to restrain occupants in an accident. Until Hyundai resolves the issue, owners of the affected Palisades are advised to insert the belt firmly into the buckle in one quick, direct motion, and to give a strong pull on the belt to confirm that it is fully latched.
Hyundai said that the defect arises from seat belt buckle components not meeting manufacturing tolerances. The automaker has committed to working with dealers to provide appropriate repairs or replacements to ensure passenger safety./Affected owners will receive notifications once the remedy is available.
