Kuala Lumpur, 4 November 2026 – Google plans to invest US$15 billion in Malaysia over 2027 and 2028, with the programme centred on energy-efficient data-centre campuses and measures intended to widen the country’s access to artificial intelligence skills and infrastructure. The company presented the commitment at its Mantap Malaysia Bersama AI event, describing the investment as part of a broader effort to support Malaysia’s digital economy.
The planned campuses are to be located in industrial zones. Google said construction activity could support more than 37,000 local jobs annually during the relevant building years, with more than 9,000 jobs when facilities are operational. It also expects the project to involve more than 80 suppliers. These are company estimates and projections, not guaranteed employment outcomes; actual effects will depend on the construction timetable, supplier contracts, workforce requirements and the facilities’ operating model.
