Kuala Lumpur, 26 October 2026 – Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad handled 7.8 million passengers across its Malaysian network in September, 12% fewer than a year earlier, as domestic traffic fell 21.8% to 3.4 million. International traffic proved more resilient at 4.3 million, down 2.2%, while smaller gateways including Subang, Ipoh and Penang recorded year-on-year international growth.

The figures matter to airlines, tourism businesses and infrastructure investors because they show that network demand is diverging by route and airport rather than moving in one direction. September’s decline is confirmed, but it should not be read in isolation: the first nine months produced 75.2 million passengers, 2.4% lower overall, while international volume rose 4.5% to 41.3 million.
