Beijing, 26 October 2026 – Oil prices fell by nearly US$1 a barrel in early Monday trading, retreating from their highest levels in almost six months. At 23:15 GMT, US crude futures were down 99 cents, or 0.96%, at US$102.28 a barrel, while Brent futures declined 93 cents, or 0.8%, to US$115.79.
The move matters to Asian businesses and investors because most major regional economies are net energy importers, making oil a direct influence on transport costs, inflation, currencies and corporate margins. The early price decline is confirmed, but it represents a short trading window rather than a settled trend. Supply disruptions and geopolitical risk can still reverse the move quickly.
